Impact Makers October 2023

Introducing AMTA-Member Lora Barnhill, one of this year’s Nebraska Chapter's IMPACT MAKERS.

Here's is the info you should know about Lora in her own words:

LMT years: 23 years

AMTA years: 23 years

Business: I work in a chiropractor’s office. I practice Swedish - relaxation massage

Therapeutic - I've combined what I've learned over the years. So not just specific modalities.

Family/Life outside of work: With my husband and 2 teenage kids. Attending their sports and music activities. I enjoy being outside, gardening and yard work.

How do you promote the massage therapy profession in your community:

Openly talk about and recommend massage in conversations when I'm out at my kids activities. Donate massages for benefits and prizes for different events. Refer people to massage therapists in our area that specialize in areas I don't.

In what ways do you participate in your community: I am on the 4H council in my county. I am also a member of our local softball board. I have been active in my church with volunteer work.

Do you have any words of wisdom to share that have helped you in your career: You will attract the type of clientele you want. Don't stress about the ones that come and don't ever come back. They need to find a massage therapist that suits their needs. That will benefit our profession.

Develop a good rapport with the other massage therapists in your area and refer to them when you can't meet someone's needs or timing. It will benefit you in the long run.
